Real Estate License

A few years ago a friend and I decided that we were each going to obtain a real estate license and start working in the housing market. For whatever reason we went to different real estate schools. If I remember correctly she completed the class in a week and I went to a school that had a part time schedule available. We both went to take the real estate license test on the same day and we both passed.

The cost of real estate school was a few hundred dollars. That seemed reasonable and after we passed the test we both felt we got our moneys worth. When we applied for our licenses and became members of the local association that is when the fees began to add up a bit. The real estate license is not expensive but the rental on the lock box and the online service costs, plus the local association fees.... In the end I felt like it was a bit expensive to get started on this new career path.

On the plus side, with our real estate license woes behind us we were then able to start making money. We partnered as a team and were hired by a local broker. It was just a few weeks until we had our first sale and we made all of the fees back and then some. Going thru the process of getting my real estate license was a bit scary and a bit expensive but it was well worth it. Now as an established agent I am able to earn a living and help people find their dream homes.

My friend and I work for separate brokers now but I am so glad we went thru the real estate license process together. Having her support made starting this new career so much easier. Having my real estate license has really opened up a whole new world to me. I love my job and I love helping people. Getting my real estate license was well worth the cost and I would do it again in a second. The opportunity to start a whole new career was a bit un-nerving but not something I would ever pass up.
