Obtaining An Alberta Real Estate Licence
As a licenced real estate agent in the state of Colorado I have had a few good years from the boom of the real estate market. Now it seems that the market here has gone stale and I am ready to make a major change in my life. My family will be moving to Alberta Canada and I will be going to get an Alberta real estate licence. I am in the process of looking for real estate schools in the area and looking into what is required for obtaining an Alberta real estate license.
My research has led me to a few local colleges and there is one that seems to offer the real estate courses that I would need. It seems that obtaining an Alberta real estate license requires a bit more schooling then it does here in the states. When I obtained my Colorado I had to complete something like 60 hours of class time and then pass a class test and a state test. The Alberta real estate license requirements seem to have a lot more schooling involved. From what I could read online I will have to complete the licensing class requirements in three phases. They are a combination of home study and class time. The largest block was a 96 hour course in fundamentals. From there it is a series of hours in residential, commercial, and rural real estate classroom hours.
I like the fact that when I am done my Alberta real estate licence will allow me to sell commercial as well as residential real estate. As long as i do well and pass the Provincial Real Estate Qualifying Exam, I will then be able to get my license from the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA.) Then with an active Alberta real estate licence I will be able to start working in a country I love and in a booming area once again. My husband was born and raised in Alberta and he is excited to go back home to live.
Having grown up in Louisiana I am not that familiar with the climate of Alberta but my husband says it will feel a lot like Colorado. That I can get used to... I am excited to have a direction and obtain my Alberta real estate license once we complete our move to the area. Being able to live in such a beautiful part of the world and having my Alberta real estate license seems like a dream job. It has been great working and living in Colorado but now it is time to go get my Alberta real estate license and move on to a new adventure.
